WINR – Women in Nude Recreation

WINR Pasco held their final meeting of the season on May 20th at the community center at Paradise Lakes.  The featured speaker shared a man's perspective of domestic abuse – when the abuser in the relationship is the woman.  The discussion further stressed the importance of abuse victims working with organizations such as Sunrise Pasco to develop a safety plan.

The group will not meet in June, July or August but will be back in September.  Have a great summer!

Nude Recreation From A Woman's Perspective

Do you remember skinny dipping when you were young - the luxurious feeling of freedom and innocent fun that you felt then? You owe it to yourself to rediscover the child in you, to recapture that innocence no matter what your age, your occupation, or your physical appearance. Self acceptance and total relaxation are two of nude recreation's greatest contribution to today's woman.

Feel the FreedomHere is what one of our members had to say about her experience,"One of the healthiest things I did for myself was to try nude recreation. I quickly learned that being nude is actually quite natural, what you might call a life enhancing experience. Why? Because having gone nude in a social setting, I now accept who I am and feel comfortable with my own body. Experiencing who I am on the inside has become more important to me than what I look like on the outside. Sure, I still enjoy being well groomed, but I no longer feel the stress associated with trying to wear trendy clothes or that I'm not living up to fashion magazine images of what my body is supposed to look like.

"When I'm at an AANR club, I'm in a relaxed community. It's a very supportive environment. Being nude has become the most normal thing in the world. I sometimes wonder, if you'll pardon this well-worn phrase, what took me so long. The people I've met are courteous and friendly, there are no pressures, no daily hassles. At a club it's easier to relate to people on the basis of who they really are, not by the image their clothes say they are. And I feel a sense of respect for me as an individual. It feels fabulous to be judged by who I am and not by the physical condition of my body or the style clothing I'm wearing. Now, whether I'm at a nudist club or at my job, my self-esteem says, 'Hey, I am a beautiful person!' My whole being is more relaxed; I've never been this confident."

Whether you're a parent or couple that decide to visit a nudist club, or you're single and thinking about giving it a try, you may still have reservations. It's normal. Once you're there, you'll quickly overcome your concerns.

AANR clubs maintain ethical standards of behavior in a wholesome, family-friendly atmosphere. Everyone accepts each other as they are. It doesn't matter if you have a surgical scar, had a mastectomy, have large breasts or small breasts, wide hips and a flat belly, or a little belly and narrow hips. No one expects you to have a perfect body. From the moment you remove your clothes, you will feel safe and comfortable, and free…free from your restrictive "second skin," free to truly relax, and free to just be you.

Why not Indulge yourself in a luxury only nature can provide?

Celebrating Women in Nude Recreation

Women are an extremely integral part of our nudist community, and AANR-Florida would like to share in, grow and celebrate the WINR groups in our region.  We encourage you to be part of this group or to start your own within your club, resort or community, and tell us about it!

The Pasco County area Women in Nude Recreation (WINR) held their first meeting of the season September 17.  Approximately 20 women came out to greet old friends, meet new ones and talk about their plans for the upcoming year.  The group received updates on the current workings and plans of AANR and AANR-Florida as well.

Once again the group has chosen to partner with Sunrise of Pasco County, Inc., the domestic and sexual violence shelter and will be collecting household goods, toiletries and clothing to support the shelter.  In addition, a monetary donation is planned in honor of former WINR member, Sylvia Schmitt.

WINR Pasco meets the third Wednesday of each month with speakers and activities for women.  Hosting of these monthly meetings moves around and will be announced prior to each one.  The October meeting will be at Paradise Pines Nudist Resort at noon; the speaker is M.G. Nash, a nudist novelist in the romance genre.  Upcoming speakers include Bobbi Jensen, who will speak to publishing in the digital age, and a representative from the National Organization of Women to help us recognize and celebrate the Women’s Movement.  An outing to Under the Sun is also planned.  For more information, please contact WINRPasco@yahoo.com.

Additionally, we are very excited to announce a new group starting in November for the women of North Central Florida.  Suwannee Valley Resort (SVR) will be supporting this group, and the first meeting will be held Nov. 6  at 11 a.m. at SVR.  The agenda for this first meeting will be discussing the group’s importance, developing friendships, giving back to our community, a history of WINR and future activities and events.  The first commitment of the SVR WINR group will be to support the Veterans Day and Christmas events at the Lake City Domiciliary.  Already, there is talk about speakers, events, fundraisers and activities.

For more information, please contact lexis.wegner@aanr-florida.org, and we look forward to seeing you there!
