Directors and Officers

Meet our Board of Directors

Joe Rives
Director

Joe is a higher education consultant and a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission. He has a B.A. in Psychology from Illinois Wesleyan University, a M.S. in psychology and Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Foundations from Illinois State University.

Joe retired from public higher education after teaching at Heartland Community College (Bloomington/Normal, IL), and holding administrative positions at Illinois State University, Western Illinois University in Macomb and Moline, and the University of the Virgin Islands. He lives in Dorado, Puerto Rico with his husband Scott and enjoys travel and nude beaches.

Joe is in his first term on the AANR-Florida Board of Directors serving as the Caribbean Liaison for our region that includes Florida, the Caribbean and Eastern Mexico. The greatest part of my day is engaging in and supporting nude recreation. There are many corresponding opportunities within the Caribbean and I am always happy to share those with you, work to increase what we have, and to make sure that those traveling to Florida have AANR opportunities top of mind.

Mary Ann Rettig
Director

I was born in Los Angeles County in California, but we moved to Florida when I was 13 so besides a short stent of moving around the eastern states and Louisiana, I have lived in Florida. I became a social nudist around 2003, starting with several trips to Apollo beach on the Canaveral seashore, and then going to Lake Como and Gulf Coast resort in Pasco county. I joined AANR in 2008. I joined my partner as a beach Ambassador down in Haulover in 2015 and bought a home in Lake Como in 2019. In 2019, we also found a need to start actively working on a beach on the west coast of Florida so started the activist organization Tampa Bay Free Beaches, in which I am the President, growing from a membership of 5 to about 300 members now. I felt a need to learn more and was accepted on the board of AANR Fl as a director in 2021.

Lewis Dreblow
Director

My involvement with organized nudism started when I was arrested for being nude and enjoying the beach at a deserted location in Flager County, Florida. [Note, this is long before ITT developed Palm Coast.] It was then that as a young adult I realized that a person needs the protection of an organization, even in what one might think is a non-offensive location. I have been an AANR and Naturist Society member ever since and have visited many clubs and resorts over the years.

My involvement in leadership started as a BOD member at White Thorn Lodge, A BOD member for Lake Como, and a BOD member for AANR International. My nudist political interest lies in helping to secure our rights and privileges for nude recreation where properly designated. Aside from organized facilities we should also be able to secure our freedom in State and National locations.

In the last 20 years I have been active in promoting the non-sexual nudist spirit through volleyball. For a list of events mostly in Eastern North America, check out nudistvolleyball.com.

Dave Berry
Director

Dave hails from Houston, Texas. His formative years were spent in Sonoma, California, and he graduated from Spring Woods High in Houston, Texas, in 1971. He attended the University of Houston for one year before enlisting in the Navy, and started his duties with a tour in Guam. Shortly thereafter, he was selected for the Navy Enlisted Scientific Education Program and was assigned, while on active duty, to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where he completed a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He was commissioned an Ensign, US Navy, in 1979. Various sea tours in the Mediterranean and visits to Spain, Tunisia, Italy, Israel, Monaco and Lake Tahoe heightened Dave's interest in social nudism. Dave's status as a US Navy officer precluded active participation in the nudist lifestyle until he retired from the Navy in 1994 and made his residence in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dave visited several nudist resorts in the interim years and in 2000, he met his wife Kassie. They were married at the Sunny Sands Resort in Pierson, Florida in September 2001. In 2013, Dave and Kassie founded the AANR chartered First Coast Naturists traveling club, using the MEETUP.com social interest platform to create and administer the group. Dave retired from the corporate world in 2019. Dave was elected to the AANR Florida board in 2020 and re-elected in 2022.

Meet our Officers

Ralph Collison
President

I have been a lifelong nudist starting in grade school in the 1950’s. During the first half of my life I enjoyed nude recreation on public lands in New England, Virginia and Florida. Upon moving to Florida my wife and I became associated with the North East Florida Naturists (NFN) and we were introduced to AANR and we are now lifetime members. I have been very active in AANR and naturist concerns in Florida over the last 15 years. I’m a past president and director of NFN. Past president (three terms) and director of AANR-Florida. Current Florida Member Trustee on the AANR Board. Over the last 10 years I have worked to enhance nude recreation in Florida. During this time, we have gained a new naturist beach and solidified our hold on several others. We have gained acceptance by the State of Florida as a special interest tourist industry with a significant monitory impact. We are active members of Visit Florida dedicated to attracting nudists worldwide to nude recreation in Florida. During my tenure in Florida we have been able to unify the various nudist organizations to speak with one voice. In addition to AANR I’m also a member of South Florida Free Beaches, First Coast Naturist, Northeast Florida Naturists and The Naturist Society.

Lu Ann Heintz
Secretary/Treasurer

I have been part of AANR-Florida since June of 2011 when my husband and I became members. I assisted in the Opening of a new club called Sunnier Pines located in Jay, FL which was owned by an AANR member who leased a campground from the owner to run as a nudist campground. I became manager of this club in 2012 and worked until the lease was over in July of 2014, when at that time the owner of the campground took over and renamed it Hidden Lake. During this time I was elected to be a Director on the Board of Directors in 2013. In June of 2015, President Ralph Collinson at that time, elected me to be Secretary/Treasurer for the Board of Directors and I have been elected every year since. My husband and I live in NW Florida outside of Jay, which is near Pensacola.. We have 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, and another one on the way.
